Terms & Conditions

All students or their legal guardian must agree to the below terms and conditions in order to learn at The Music Suite.

Fees & Payment

We will endeavour to issue invoices, via email, prior to the commencement of term. The Music Suite must be notified, in writing, of any changes that need to be made to the invoice within 7 days of the invoice creation date. This allows sufficient time to re-issue the invoice, with the original due date will be maintained. This includes Creative Kids Vouchers.

Our term runs in accordance with the public school calendar (usually 10 weeks). We require the 10 week commitment and will not adjust invoices. The Music Suite calculates prices on the basis of payment for the entire term up front. If our term is shorter than 10 weeks, a lesson falls on a public holiday or a student signs up mid term, the fee will be calculated pro-rata. These rates are offered at a discount when compared to our casual rates. The only exception to this is for trial lessons, which are offered at a discounted rate despite being casual.

A $55 admin fee will be applicable per student per term. This admin fee will be waived if the most recent invoice was been paid in full by the due date.

All students will be charged a concert fee on the first invoice for the calendar year. It is up to the student or guardian to opt out of the concert (in which case you can opt back in subject to availability). The concert fee is non-refundable.

Any additional lessons outside of fixed termly time slots or holiday workshops will be invoiced at the time of booking.

The Music Suite reserves the right to review fees for services rendered on a regular basis; any change in price will be notified in writing prior to invoices being issued.

Cancellations

As you can appreciate, our teachers are very busy and most of our spots are in high demand. If lessons are cancelled with short notice, our teachers don’t have sufficient time to make adjustments to their schedule.

We must be notified of any weeks you’ll be absent prior to the issue of your invoice.

Once term commences, The Music Suite will allow 1 reasonable cancellation per time slot per term. A cancellation is considered reasonable if:

  • The Music Suite is notified in writing (SMS or email) a minimum of 24 hours before the lesson is scheduled to commence.
  • If a student is ill, The Music Suite is notified in writing (SMS or email) before 9am on the day of the lesson.

In the event of reasonable cancellations, you will be offered a number of alternatives for make up lessons by the teacher, but it is your responsibility to fit in with the spots offered. Credits will only be issued if a lesson is missed due to teacher absence.

If a student is absent from their group lesson, we will try find a spot available in another class. If no spot is available, make up credits will not be issued for a missed group lesson due to student absence.

In the case of missed lessons that fall outside of 1 reasonable cancellation, make up lessons will be solely at the discretion of the teacher.  No refunds will be issued for lessons that are missed due to an absent student.

Should the teacher cancel a lesson, the following measures will be taken:

  1. The Music Suite will supply a replacement teacher for the scheduled lesson.
  2. If step 1 is not possible, the regular teacher will schedule a makeup lesson.
  3. If steps 1 and 2 are not possible, a credit will be applied to the next term’s invoice.
  4. If the steps 1 and 2 are not possible and the student no longer wishes to learn at The Music Suite, a refund to the value of the missed lessons will be issued.

Standards & Lesson Times

We aim to provide the highest standard of teaching and are focused on the goals of each student. If for any reason you feel you have not received the level of service expected or have an issue to raise, please contact us so that we can come to a satisfactory resolution.

Our teachers strive to start all lessons on time. Should a lesson start late due to the teacher, extra time will be taken to ensure the student is not penalised. Should a lesson be delayed due to late arrival of a student, the teacher is not obligated to go beyond the scheduled time slot.

Instruments & Books

The Music Suite provides a piano, keyboard or drum kit should lessons take place at our studio. The only other instrument available for hire is guitar, hire of a guitar is complimentary for trial lessons.

For any other instruments, arrangements must be made by the student or their legal guardian. The Music Suite has strong relationships with a number of music shops and will be able to point you in the right direction for instrument purchase or hire. The exception to this is

The Music Suite does not provide books, these must be purchased by each student. The Music Suite will advise which books are required and if necessary can arrange purchase of the books.

Cancellation of Enrolment

Cancellation of your enrolment needs to coincide with the end of your final school term and The Music Suite must be notified in writing. Any outstanding invoices must be paid in full prior to cancelling your enrolment and no refunds will be issued for missed lessons unless they are due to an absent teacher.
